October Dolls
I've been so busy the past couple of month getting a slew of dolls ready for an October listing...and now they're up! Let me introduce you to them...
First up is Dulcinea. Born into a family of coffee fairies, Dulcinea always felt just slightly out of place, she never quite took to coffee unless it was loaded with cream and sugar and even then it was just "okay". But one day her great aunt Godiva came to visit and, recognizing a kindred spirit, introduced her to the delights of hot chocolate. Dulcie was instantly in love and her life as a cocoa fairy began. Thank goodness for great aunts! Dulcie is a 12.5" doll.
Next is 8" Lycoris, the Twilight fairy. I just love her hair SO much!
Belladonna is another 8" fae. She's one of the dark fairies of the Unseelie Court. Hard to believe when her expression is so sweet, I think her father might have been from the other court...GASP!
And last, but definitely not least, are the bat pixies. These are a new type of pixie and I just love them...so so sweet!

Mia
Hi there folks! It's been incredibly hot here lately but thankfully the studio is off the basement and oh so nice and cool! I've been working hard on a couple of new dolls, one for the Cult of the Doll project that I can't show you (sorry, no spoilers!) and the other a doll with removable clothing. Meet Miss Mia!
So far she has a petticoat, some lacy drawers, an embroidered & pintucked dress, a pinafore, embroidered felt shoes, and hand knit socks, sweater, and hat! Quite a wardrobe, but I plan on making her a few more items before she finds a new home. I admit to having so much fun playing with her little outfits. Such fun!!
This is her first sock...I'm making some new ones on smaller needles..size 00! Note her toenails...tiny toes!
Her hair is kind of wild but it really seems to suit her!

Blueberry Summer or How Doll Ideas are Born
I've been working on a bunny doll for my sister and she specifically requested I use this blueberry fabric.
At the same time I've been knitting a shawlette out of this yarn. Malabrigo, Rios, Zarzamora if anybody's interested. I adore Rios yarn; so soft, so beautiful, so luscious...sigh...but I digress.
So I was looking at them together and thought...perfect match...and a sweater for the bunny was born.
But then I had a ridiculously strong craving for blueberry pie and a craving that strong needs to be fulfilled! Besides...PIE!! So I made this, Gluten free of course.
Then I started thinking how cute it would be to make a tiny sweater for a doll and a doll with clothes that you could change and I have some of that fabric and yarn left and...well...I think I know what my next doll is going to be! I'm feeling very excited about it so stay tuned!

Alice and Mr Rabbit Together Again
Well Alice and The White Rabbit are finally finished...WHEW! Quite a few new techniques were learned in the process too...that coat, oh my goodness I thought I'd never figure it out! But I'm really happy with the final product. The Rabbit is a little pompous, and of course dressed very correctly, but his vest is a bit of whimsy with it's gold hearts. Alice has the usual layers of pintucks and lace and the pig (another first for me) looks pretty adorable in his little bonnet. Lots of photos to share so here we go!
First some details:
next Alice and the Pig...
now Mr Rabbit himself...
and lastly a group shot of course!
So what do you think?

WIP Wednesday
I'm working on a commission for a white rabbit and Alice. Here they are waiting for the paint on their shoes to dry so their legs can go on.
I love the rabbit's pink glass eyes!!

WIP Wednesday - Bunny Clothes
Working on a commission this week and Miss Bunny is helping me pick out some fabrics for her dress. She's very excited about the vintage rickrack (ric rac?) ...well who wouldn't be?

Searching for Spring
Today the bunnies decided to go outside and fill their baskets with some of the gorgeous Spring flowers that have started to bloom around the Nest. First they posed for a group shot..
and then of course there was the obligatory "selfie"
Then off to find some flowers! The daffodils proved to be too big.
And though the johnny jump ups were a bit better,
the very aptly named, Sweet Breath of Spring, was perfect and smelled SO good!

WIP Wednesday - Snow Day
I live in North Carolina where snow is a pretty rare event, but this morning we woke up to this...
Did we get transported up north during the night?
But I have plenty of work to keep me busy inside so here's what's on my studio table this morning.

WIP Wednesday - Bits and Pieces
An assortment of photos from this week's table...
I love when they get faces and their personalities start to develop.
Teeny tiny ears! This only took 4 attempts...but the second one came out exactly right so there's that!
An assortment of vintage laces for an Alice outfit....
...which is coming along nicely!
