The Little Prince and friends...

As you've probably realized by now, I'm a huge fan of children's literature, so the opportunity to recreate a character from one of my favorites is always a pleasure ... challenging sometimes, but that's supposed to be good for me! And I am really pleased with how this little guy turned out. Although there are some things that I would do differently next time, that's all part of the process. I love it that people ask me to make dolls that I might not have even tried on my own, first because they often are a challenge and second because I usually surprise myself with the end result. I made these two last week for another commission, Anne of Green Gables and Pam from "The Office". An unlikely pairing to say the least!

And here's a Little Mermaid I made awhile back....

So now that I've done mermaids, Alice, Pippi, Anne, The Prince and several Fairy Tale and Nursery Rhyme characters...not to mention Pam... who do you think I should try next?

  1. Cynthia, Your Little prince...so wonderful! And Anne of Green Gables...ohhhh! Pam is sweet too but I don't have TV so she's not familiar to me.

I vote for The Wind Boy or Laura Ingalls Wilder or the Little Women as more possibilities. I can't wait to see what you make next and what others suggest. It is so much fun to watch your dolls come to life!

  2. wonderful:0
How about one of the characters from Charles de Lints Someplace to be Flying? Margaret Pie or Jack Daw?
    or how about rapunzel?

  3. Ooo Rapunzel...I'm liking that! I've made crow ladies, I like to think of them as one of the faces of DeLint's crow girls, but I'm liking the Jack Daw idea too. And I'd love to do all of the sisters from Little Women...wouldn't that be a great set?!

  5. What great little people. I can see a whole family of Office dolls. Dwight Shrute would be a good one. I don't know if you've ever tried to make a dork before :)

  7. I loved all of them, but the Little Prince is wonderful! He looks exactly like he should.

Pam cracks me - I think a Dwight would be hilarious, esp. with a beet in his pocket!

I liked the Rapunzel idea too, but she might have to be a bigger doll for the hair to have better scale. I've always loved the image of Rapunzel (which is rarely shown) when she's in the desert, doing the single blind mom gig, but that's me, tragic girl!

(PS - thanks for the comment the other day - I really didn't expect you would want to say anything and I was completely okay with that. Complicated stuff...love you!)
